ELIMAIA Ion Acceleration - Monte Carlo

Monte Carlo is a powerful simulation approach, able to reproduce in a very realistic mode, how particle propagates. Thanks to this capability, we took the output from laser-target interaction and then transported them along the ELIMED beamline. Particles traverse the entire beamline and then reach the final beamline section, where samples irradiation with this beams will occur. Here the simulation is able to calculate the dose deposited by primary particles and secondary.

Transported particle along the beamline interact with the other elements and with the air generating secondary particles: the simulation is performed with the Gean4 simulation toolkit.
